Antara Ghogare is now a cheerful 2-year-old, full of life and energy. Looking at her today, it’s hard to imagine that just a short while ago, she went through a life-saving liver transplant at only 6 months of age.
Antara was born in 2023, and initially, everything seemed normal. But soon after she was taken home, her parents began to notice that something wasn’t right. She was unusually cranky, cried a lot, and seemed uncomfortable most of the time. Like any concerned parents, they took her to a local doctor.
That visit changed everything.
The doctor suspected a liver-related issue and advised the family to consult a specialist in Pune. Without delay, they came to Ruby Hall Clinic, where they met Dr. Vishnu Biradar. After detailed evaluation and tests, the diagnosis became clear, Antra was suffering from decompensated liver disease.
In simple terms, this meant that her liver was no longer able to perform its basic functions properly. The damage had reached a stage where medicines alone would not help, and the body could no longer cope on its own. A liver transplant was the only option to save her life.
For the family, this was overwhelming.
The next challenge was finding a donor. Both her mother and father were ready to donate and went through all the necessary tests. He mother, especially, was very willing. But unfortunately, due to medical reasons, the match was not suitable.
Those days of waiting were difficult.
Then, in a moment that changed everything, Antara’s aunt stepped forward. Without hesitation, she chose to donate a part of her liver, giving Antra the chance she desperately needed.
The transplant was performed at Ruby Hall Clinic, Pune. It was a tense time for the entire family, filled with hope and fear at the same time. Thankfully, the surgery was successful, and after a period of recovery, Antara was discharged.
Alongside the emotional stress, the family also faced financial challenges. They received support from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund and the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund, which helped them significantly. In addition, The Pravin Agarwal Foundation stepped in and supported
them financially, helping complete the transplant process successfully.
Today, Antara is a completely different child.
She is healthy, playful, and growing well. She spends her days playing, smiling, and doing all the things a child her age should be doing. For her family, this is nothing short of a blessing.
